It subsequently grew and spread into other sectors, notably infastructure services and the law and ever since 2005 has had a significant practice in Retail and Hospitality. David Montgomery is Managing Director and was co-founder, in 2002, of Benchmark Search, and leads on all senior level searches.Born and raised in East Africa where he still has a home [see www.ampoja.com]. Prior to 2002 he was the Chief Operating Officer for Hanover Matrix Executive Search, before which he had a successful military career, joining as a young graduate from Exeter University and retiring as a Brigadier, having commanded 7th Armoured Brigade, 'The Desert Rats'.

In Infrastructure Morgan Advanced Materials, a new FTSE 250 client, retained Benchmark to provide a Head of their Programme Management Office, one Matthew Tattersall, an experienced expert from the Railway sector. In Defence we saw work with PWC, and a rolling hiring programme of consultants for Techmodal, since acquired by BAE Systems.
